Great Marlborough Street
A major restoration, refurbishment and extension of a Georgian townhouse in the Soho Conservation area
This complex project involved navigating a variety of constraints from historic preservation, structural complexity, and sensitive neighbours. The final project is a masterclass in re-use with many of the original features of the building re-appropriated to maximise the character of the original building, whilst promoting the circular economy in construction.

Biophilia features throughout with a green wall integrated into the first floor office space

The original features were retained and exposed where possible, including the brick party walls and original ceiling beams.

A new roof terrace was integrated into the penthouse apartment complete with pool and landscaping.

A new three-story extension was built on the back of the building reflecting the industrial heritage of the area.

Planting was carefully integrated into the facade at each level to create unique office spaces and wildlife-friendly pockets in central London.

Timber floors and reclaimed joists were exposed throughout the office areas, which are flooded with natural light.

Natural materials were used throughout including a subdued marble to the washrooms.

The front facade was retained and refurbished with new lime render and new roof to the penthouse apartment.

A large green roof and hanging foliage adorn the west facade of the building.
